According to Mania, Luis Berdejo (director of Ivana Baquero’s upcoming The New Daughter) and his production team will be staying on to create a sci-fi movie called POD.

Ok, I admit, I’m a crazy Ivana Baquero fan, I payed $100 for this movie, and honestly, I don’t regret a cent of that. I loved the movie through and through. It’s a lot cheaper now so don’t worry I just payed extra to get it before it went on wide release.
Synopsis
A group of children spending Christmas in a summer resort village discover a woman disguised as Santa Claus in a well in the woods. When they go to the police for help, they discover that she is in fact a dangerous thief who is on the run with a substantial haul. They make a decision. They will help her out of the well in exchange for the money that she still has on her.
But once they have the money, greed, fear and darker thoughts lead them to change their plans, which in turn leads to a series of dilemmas. Should they keep the money? Why would they actually want to help her out of the well? And would they be in danger if they did let her out?
So the children decide not to free her. They feed her and look after her but the days become increasingly long in the well. The cold, the damp, the darkness and above all the fact that she is being fed with packets of childrens food are turning her enforced captivity into a torture session with near fatal consequences.
One day, when the children come to see her, the well is empty… This year, Santa Claus is coming with a sackful of deadly gifts

Direction: 4 Stars
Paco Plaza created a wonderful film, it’s extremely scary, and a well flowing storyline. Plaza also directed Romasanta, which I reviewed here
Storyline: 4 Stars
The Storyline is well formed and kept my attention throughout the movie. The script was written by Luis Berdejo, who is directing Ivana Baquero’s upcoming movie, The New Daughter.
Acting: 3 Stars
Acting was particularly good for child acting, which every director knows is a nightmare… I really commend Plaza on his good work.
Ivana Baquero: 5 Stars
Ivana Baquero really did an excellent job with her acting role in this movie. It is the movie that has the most of Ivana in after Pan’s Labyrinth, and chronologically precedes Pan’s Labyrinth.
Ivana was able to convey a wonderful show of talent both emotionally and experimentally, and for her age, no-one can beat her performance!
If you want to watch lots of Ivana, watch this movie… she takes a leading role, and any fan should be satisfied with the character she plays.
Conclusion
This is my second favorite Ivana Baquero movie… and I’ll certainly recommend it to all Ivana fans.

The linup of movies in the Sundance film Festival for 2009 has just been released, and it appears that The Anarchist’s Wife (Ivana Baquero’s next movie) is on the list of movies to be shown.

Just to let you all know, I’m in current talks of adding English subtitles to this movie, so hopefully the english speaking audience will be able to understand this movie a bit better…
